Busy start to July with Two Workers

The month of June ended with an MVA with entrapment at Route 206 & Mountainview Rd on June 30th at 13:30 hrs. Units from Stations 37 & 38 stood by while the extrication team from 79-Rescue took care of extricating the victim.

The very next day, July 1st, a short but violent thunderstorm moved through the Hillsborough area around 20:00 hrs, sending Station 37 crews out for a number of storm-related calls due to transformers, wires, and lightning strikes.

The weekend of July 4th was quite busy for the members of Station 37. Aside from several fire alarm calls, crews tended to a working fire in a construction trailer on Steinmetz Way, an car versus train MVA on Homestead Rd, a fire in a large dumpster (twice) off Auten Rd, and a standby at Statioin 28 while Franklin Twp crews were out at a 3rd alarm house fire at 12th St & Culver St.

On Wednesday, July 14th at 18:00 hrs Station 37 was alerted to 11 Plumstead Way off Millstone River Rd for the reported explosion. Crews arrived on-scene within minutes to find a lightning strike to the attic of a home with fire in the attic area. Due to the distance to hydrants in that area, mutual aid was summoned to the scene for tankers. Crews from Stations 37, 36, 38 and 28 made a great stop and limited fire damage to an area of the attic. Units were clear of the scene by 20:00 hrs.

New Coat of Paint for Bay Doors

July 17 - During the last few weeks the front bay doors of Station 37 received a new coat of paint with trim. The doors are now "fire engine" red with a yellow stripe along the bottoms. A sincere "thank you" to Frank Hoh, owner of the Paint and Decorating Depot at 438 Route 206 in Hillsborough, for generously donating the paint to allow us to give our station doors their new paint job.

Due to weight limitations on the bridge entering into the Lost Valley section Tower 37 was unable to respond to the scene. Ladder 23 (Bound Brook) was then requested in place of Tower Ladder 37. Engine 37-102 along with 37-C2 and 37-C3 operated on-scene at the multi-alarm blaze which involved a 2.5-story multi-family dwelling.

Also, on Saturday June 12th, the truck also was awarded a 1st Place trophy for Best Appearing Aerial Apparatus at the North Brunswick Fireman of the Woods competition.

On Sunday June 13th Station 37 participated in a district-wide water supply drill at the old GA depot off Mountainview Rd. Units from Station 36 (Hillsborough #1), Station 28 (Millstone Valley), Station 32 (Readington), Station 48 (Neshanic), and Station 45 (Montgomery #1) were in attendance.

Busy weekend for the Boro's Bravest

May 31 - On Thursday May 27th Stations 36 & 37 were alerted for the MVA with entrapment on Route 206 North at Dukes Parkway East. Fire suppression units stood-by at the scene while EMS extricated the victim.

On Friday May 28th Stations 37 & 36 were alerted at 15:40 hrs to Kimberly Drive in 37's primary for the reported structure fire. 36-C1 arrived on location within minutes advising smoke showing from a 2.5-story wood frame dwelling. Due to the location's proximity to Manville, Station 42 was alerted to the scene as well as Station 38 full response and Station 30 for their FAST team. After searches with multiple cameras to identify the source of the smoke, an electrical fire was found to have basically extinguished itself in the rear of a large fish tank. All units cleared the scene within an hour after the initial call.

On Saturday May 29th at 14:05 hrs Stations 37 & 36 were alerted to the area of Triangle & Farm Rds for the reported structure fire. Units arrived on scene shortly thereafter with an exterior fire involving a ground floor patio of a 2-story garden apartment building. At 23:20 hrs Stations 37 & 36 were dispatched to 508 Auten Rd for the bathroom ceiling fan on fire. Upon investigation it was found that the fire burned itself out with no extension to the attic area above the fire.

On Sunday May 30th at 23:25 hrs Station 37 was alerted to move-up an engine to Station 28 (Millstone Valley) while they were moved up to Station 27 (East Franklin). A large portion of Franklin Township units were involved in extended operations at a multi-alarm vacant dwelling fire off Churchill Ave. While standing-by at Station 28 Engine 37-102 responded to an MVA w/fuel spill at the intersection of Amwell Rd. & Demott Ln.
